Tips and Tricks
- Choose Your Apples Wisely: Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples are excellent choices for cobbler because they offer a nice balance of tartness and sweetness. This combination adds depth to your dessert.
- Mix the Topping: In another large mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free flour, granulated sugar, eggs, and baking powder. Stir until everything is well mixed. This will be the delightful topping for your cobbler.
- Use Melted Coconut Oil: When pouring the melted coconut oil over the cobbler, make sure it’s evenly distributed. This adds a lovely richness to the dish and helps with browning.
- Golden Brown Top: Bake your cobbler for approximately 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Keep an eye on it, as baking times may vary depending on your oven. A golden brown top indicates that it’s perfectly cooked.
- Serve Warm: For the ultimate indulgence, serve your gluten-free apple cobbler while it’s still warm. Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (make sure it’s dairy-free if needed) for a heavenly treat that your taste buds will adore.

We recommend taking the time to peel apples for fruit cobbler as it will result in a more desirable texture.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge in a container or covered with foil for up to 5 days. Enjoy chilled or reheat in the microwave or oven until hot. We do not recommend freezing leftovers as it could potentially be soggy when reheated.
Best served warm with a scoop of ice cream or homemade whipped cream. Cobbler is also delicious drizzled with caramel sauce or topped with toasted walnuts or pecans.

Yes, there are many options when it comes to fruit cobblers. The cobbler filling can be poured over blackberries, blueberries, peaches, and/or cherries.
Storage Instructions
To store your gluten-free apple cobbler, first, allow it to cool completely to room temperature. Once cooled, cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil to keep it airtight. You can also transfer individual portions to airtight containers if preferred. Refrigerate the cobbler for up to 3-4 days to maintain its freshness.
If you anticipate not consuming it within that time frame, you can freeze it for longer storage. To freeze, wrap the cobbler tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil or place it in an airtight freezer-safe container. Label it with the date. It can be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months.
When you’re ready to enjoy it, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight and reheat it in the oven at a low temperature to restore its delicious texture and warmth.

Thanks for posting this recipe. I’m just curious why there’s no xanthan or guar gum in the recipe. I’ve never seen a GF recipe without it. Thanks!

Hi Wendy! I tend to buy gluten-free flour that is blended to substitute for regular flour. This recipe used Bob’s Red Mill 1 for 1 flour which does not require xanthan or guar gum.
