How To Make Gluten Free Chicken Parm
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Then, line your baking sheet with tin foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
Divide the flour, breadcrumbs, and egg into flat-bottomed bowls
Add the flour, salt, and pepper to one flat bottomed bowl, stir together. Add the egg to the next bowl, whisk with a fork. Add the breadcrumbs and Italian seasonings to the third bowl, mix well.
Prepare the chicken
Cut the chicken breasts in half horizontally, making 2 cutlets. Place them onto a large piece of plastic wrap and cover with another piece of plastic wrap. Use the mallet to pound the chicken into evenly-sized flattened pieces.

Coat the chicken
Start by coating the chicken into the flour (shake off extra), dip into the egg (let the extra drip off), then coat in the breadcrumb mixture (press into the chicken, then shake extra off).
Place onto the tin foil-lined baking pan and repeat until all the chicken is coated. Spray the breaded chicken with nonstick cooking spray. Now that you have learned how to make breaded chicken, you can bread chicken for any future dish.
Bake
Bake the chicken for 10 -15 minutes or until the internal temperature hits 165°F.
Broil
Preheat the broiler. Pour the marinara onto the cooked chicken. Top with a slice of cheese. Place under the broiler (make sure rack is about halfway down in the oven – not too close to the broiler). Broil for 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

- Make dairy-free by omitting the cheese or opt for a dairy-free alternative.
- Store in an air-tight container for up to 3 days in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave in increments of 15 seconds until hot.
- All chicken dishes should be cooked until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F. The best method of checking the temperature is by inserting a meat thermometer into the thickest section of the chicken.

Storage Instructions
Begin by allowing any leftover chicken Parmesan to cool to room temperature. To store it in the refrigerator, wrap the chicken Parmesan in plastic wrap or aluminum foil or place it in an airtight container. This will help prevent moisture loss and maintain the texture of the dish.
For longer-term storage, consider freezing the chicken Parmesan. To do this, wrap the individual portions in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and then place them in a resealable freezer bag. Make sure to remove as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn. Label the bag with the date to keep track of its freshness.
When reheating, it’s best to use an oven or toaster oven for the best results. Place the frozen or refrigerated chicken Parmesan in a preheated oven at around 350°F (175°C) until it’s heated through, which should take around 20-25 minutes for refrigerated portions and 40-45 minutes for frozen ones. This method will help maintain the crispiness of the breading and the flavors of the sauce and cheese.
Kids In The Kitchen
Cooking tips and suggestions for kids making this recipe.
- Line the baking tray with a sheet of foil for easy cleanup. Spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray to easily remove the chicken once baked.
- Discard the breadcrumbs, flour and egg bowls when all chicken has been breaded. Since you added raw chicken to these bowls, you do not want to save any leftovers.
- Ask a helper to slice the chicken in half then pound thin with a kitchen mallet or rolling pin. Make sure each chicken breast is roughly the same thickness – this will help all the chicken to cook evenly.
- Check the internal temperature of the chicken before serving by inserting a meat thermometer into the thickest part and waiting for the thermometer to reach 165°F.
