Cottage Cheese Smoothie is a healthy and delicious breakfast option for your family. This kid-friendly smoothie is packed with all the good stuff your family needs to start their day off right. Cottage cheese provides protein to keep little bellies full, while blueberries and spinach offer important antioxidants and nutrients.
⭐️ Blend the smoothie. To the blender add blueberries, spinach, cottage cheese, banana, almond milk, and maple syrup. Blend until smooth, scraping sides as you go.
1 cup spinach, 1 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, 1/2 large overripe frozen banana, 1/2 cup almond milk, 2 teaspoons maple syrup, 2/3 cup cottage cheese
Notes
You can use any milk you would like in the smoothie. I choose almond milk because it is low in calories, but skim, 1%, coconut, or soy milk would work great too.
Add the liquid and leafy greens into the blender first to make it easier to blend and get the perfect texture.
Substitute the cottage cheese for tofu or Greek yogurt and change the topping to those you have on hand.
Use frozen fruit if aiming for a creamy texture that tastes just like a milkshake.
I chose flax seed and chia seeds to add extra fiber to the stacked smoothie. This smoothie is filling enough to be eaten at any meal of the day.
Use honey or 2-3 pitted dates instead of maple syrup to sweeten the smoothie.
Replace the spinach with kale or another leafy green.
Use plain or fruit flavored cottage cheese.
Buy fresh berries during peak season then wash, dry and freeze. This is a cost-effective way to make berries a freezer staple to use all year.
Serve as a complete meal, snack or dessert.
