Our gluten-free scalloped potatoes are creamy and cheesy all without flour. Russet potatoes are combined with butter, fresh garlic, chicken stock, and lots of freshly grated parmesan cheese. A holiday favorite.
3 poundsrusset potatoes, peeled and thinly sliceddo not rinse after peeling
2cupswhole milk
1cupchicken stock✅
4tablespoonsbutter
3-4largecloves garlic, minced
1tablespoonfresh sage, chopped
1 1/2teaspoonssalt
1teaspoonfreshly ground pepper
2 1/2cupsfreshly grated parmesan cheese✅
Instructions
Preheat the oven and prep the baking pan. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray the baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
⭐️Bring mixture to a boil. Add the potatoes, milk, chicken stock, butter, garlic, sage, salt, and pepper to a large stock pot. Bring to a boil, then turn down to simmer for 1-2 minutes.
⭐️Layer potatoes with cheese. Spoon 1/3 of the potato mixture into the prepared pan. Add 1/3 of the parmesan cheese. Repeat 2x ending with cheese. Top with additional freshly cracked pepper if desired.
2 1/2 cups freshly grated parmesan cheese
⭐️Bake. Spray tin foil with non-stick cooking spray. Place sprayed side down and cover the dish. Cook for 30 minutes. Remove tinfoil and cook an additional 30 minutes.
⭐️Rest. Remove the potatoes from the oven. Let rest for 20 minutes (allows the potatoes to cool and thicken).

Tips
To prevent your potatoes from turning brown, wait to slice until just before using them. This recipe uses the natural starch of the potatoes to help thicken the sauce - don't rinse them or soak the potatoes.
Starchy potatoes such as Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes are best for scalloped potatoes as these varieties will thicken the dish as it cooks.
