Freezing this dip is not recommended as the cookies become soggy and the cream cheese mixture tends to separate once thawed.
You can by whipping up the cream cheese and cool whip mixture and storing in the fridge overnight. Mix in the remaining cool whip and Oreos right before serving. This keeps the cookies crunchy instead of soggy.
This dip can be arranged with a variety of ingredients including fresh fruit and gluten-free cookies and crackers. It can be fun to set up like a charcuterie board for guests to scoop the dip onto a plate then choose their preferred dippers.
It does add a nice flavor to the dip; however, could be omitted or swapped with almond extract. Mint extract is another fun replacement to turn this into a mint Oreo dessert dip.
Either! Pick your preference.
Kids In The Kitchen
Cooking tips and suggestions for kids making this recipe.
- It is easier to blend cream cheese that is at room temperature than chilled. Set out at least 30 minutes before you are ready to whip up these cookies and cream dessert.
- By “folding” the Oreos into the mixture, you are gently scooping from the bottom of the bowl to incorporate the cookies. This keeps the dessert dip fluffy and creamy.
- Be creative and think of 2-3 ingredients to dip into this dessert and make the recommendation!
