While this recipe was developed as a camping spaghetti recipe, feel free to make it at home. I would still make the meat ahead of time and freeze as this makes it a speedy recipe with no prep.

You can make this camping meal for kids on your camping stovetop, or on the campfire grate. If you choose the grill grate you should use a dutch oven or a large pot that’s just for camping.
I love serving camping garlic bread with this camp spaghetti.
You can use whatever bread or rolls you have. The secret to this amazing garlic toast is to make the garlic butter ahead of time. Simply mix a stick of butter with 1-2 tbsp. minced garlic, a touch of salt, then stir. Store it in a plastic container in your fridge until your ready to use it.
To serve the one-pot spaghetti offer parmesan cheese, garlic toast, and make it easy by grabbing a prepackaged salad kit to add another veggie to the meal. Gourmet dining right at your campsite!

This was perfect for our last camping trip. Super easy and mess free.
Deb says
Will this recipe work in the crockpot?
Jodi Danen, RDN says
Hi Deb. I’m not sure it would work in the crockpot as I have not tried it. I think it should if you cook it on low and for a shorter time. Usually, 2 hours work for pasta in the slow cooker. Let me know if you try it!
Jessica says
Does the prepared ahead meat have to thaw out or do you put it in frozen?
Jodi Danen, RDN says
Hi Jessica. You do not have to thaw the meat. You can put it in frozen. It works best if you freeze the meat in something like a ziplock with the meat flattened so it’s not a huge block of frozen meat. If it is you may want to thaw the meat a little. I hope you enjoy it!
Cherise says
To double this, would double the liquids as well? Or would thar be too much liquid?
Jodi Danen, RDN says
Hi Cherise! I have not tried doubling it myself, but if I were I would double all the liquids. The pasta needs enough liquid to absorb. I’d love to hear how it turns out!
Bethany says
Can pasta that has gluten be used or will it only work with GF pasta?
Jodi Danen, RDN says
Hi Bethany! This recipe works great with regular pasta! It’s how I made it for years before needing to switch to GF. Enjoy!
