Description

Instant Pot French Dip transforms a beef rump roast into a fall apart, melt in your mouth sandwich. Crunchy bread is stacked with meat then dipped into au jus. This recipe can be made in your pressure cooker in just 1.5 hrs. or left to cook all day in the slow cooker.


Ingredients

  • 4 lbs. rump roast
  • 14.5 oz. beef broth
  • 14.5 oz. French onion soup
  • 1 can light beer
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 10 crusty French rolls
  • optional: butter or mayo

Instructions

  1. Place beef into instant pot.
  2. Add beef broth, French onion soup, beer, and spices.
  3. Cook on high pressure for 1.5 hours.
  4. You can choose to do a natural release or turn to venting for a quick release.
  5. Remove any visible fat. Slice or shred.
  6. Turn on broiler.  Spread french rolls with butter or mayo if desired. Broil for 2-3 minutes or until the bread starts to brown.
  7. Serve meat on crusty rolls with an individual side dish of the au jus juice for dipping.

Notes

Crockpot Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients to the slow cooker.
  2. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 6-8 hours.
  3. Remove any visible fat. Slice or shred.
  4. Turn on broiler.  Spread french rolls with butter or mayo if desired. Broil for 2-3 minutes or until the bread starts to brown.
  5. Serve meat on crusty rolls with an individual side dish of the au jus juice for dipping.
