Freezing Carrots
Freezing produce is one of our favorite ways to stock the freezer to then serve as a nutrient dense option on the dinner table all year. Keeping a variety of fruits and vegetables as freezer staples is the way to go!
Whether you are freezing your fruits and veggies from a home garden or from your local grocery store, you can follow our simple method to successfully freeze produce. In less than 20 minutes, you can have produce sliced and diced, blanched and ready to freeze.
It typically takes around an hour for your produce to freeze before it can be transferred to a Ziploc bag, stasher bag or freezer safe container and kept for up to 1 year. Don’t forget to label your container!

- 3 pounds carrots
- ice

How To Make
Bring water to a boil in a large stockpot.
Prep the carrots then boil
Wash, peel, and slice the carrots. Carefully place the carrot coins into the boiling water. Boil for 5 minutes.
Prepare the ice bath
While the carrots are boiling fill a large bowl with ice. Add water. Once the carrots are boiled use a slotted spoon to place them immediately into the ice bath. Let them sit for 5 minutes.
Freeze the carrots
Strain the carrots removing as much water as possible. Place them onto a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Freeze for about 1 hour. Remove them from the tray and place them into a ziplock freezer bag. Freeze.
What To Do With Carrots
Chopped carrots can be roasted, boiled, or sauteed straight from frozen then served as a veggie side dish. Flavor with your preferred seasoning blend or sauce. Our Gluten Free Stir Fry Sauce is a current favorite in our home!
