How To Make
Start by adding the butter and oil to a large skillet. If you don’t have a large skillet you can divide the butter, oil, and hashbrowns between two smaller skillets. Heat over medium heat until the butter is melted.
Once the butter is melted you can add the frozen hashbrowns, spreading them out in the pan. Make sure you don’t overcrowd the pan too much. Season the hashbrowns with salt and pepper.
The magic in crispy golden browned hashbrowns lies in not touching the hashbrowns in the pan until they are golden brown and ready to flip. This takes anywhere from 4-6 minutes depending on the size of your pan. Once golden brown, flip the hashbrowns. We like using a firm flipper upside down to scrape the bottom of the pan to get the hashbrowns to release from the pan and then flip. Cook for an additional 4-6 minutes or until golden browned and cooked through.
Variations for making crispy hashbrowns
