A fun, nutritious, and hands on Christmas classroom activity for kids. These healthy Christmas treats for kids are the perfect holiday snack for your children to bring for classroom parties!
Every year I sign up for the “healthy treat” for my children’s classroom holiday parties. Don’t ask me why they do “regular” treats and “healthy” treats, but they do.
I am always determined to show children that just because something is healthy, doesn’t mean it’s boring or tastes bad.
When possible, I like to bring snack ingredients into the classroom and have the children make their own treats. Kids always have fun doing this and those pickier children are much more likely to give the treat a try when they make it themselves.
These festive veggies cups are a healthy Christmas treat and a fun classroom activity.
Simply bring in chopped veggies, a bottle of ranch dressing, and festive cups – either pre-decorated or have the children make their own festive design.
I was not able to make in into the classroom this year, so my 9 year old daughter made her classmates Christmas treat at home.
Our conversation upon choosing this treat went something like this:
I found the PERFECT treat for you to bring on Thursday for your class party! They are fun Santa and Snowman Veggie cups – take a look!
9 year old daughter:
UGH… WHY DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO BRING HEALTHY TREATS?? AND VEGETABLES? WHY????
Then she got over it and started working on decorating the plastic cups. She had lots of fun coming up with her own creations. She did the artwork and filled the cups creating her own veggie creations.
She’s pretty excited about passing out the little cups today. Here are the cups I bought, but you can use the Chinet ones found at your local grocery store. I liked the smaller size of these.

- pea pods
- red peppers
- green peppers
- cherry tomatoes
- ranch dressing
- small Plastic cups
The amount of veggies needed varies, depending on how many veggie cups you need.
For 20 children, I used 1 small bag of pea pods, 1 red pepper, 1 green pepper, 1/2 head of cauliflower, 1 carton cherry tomaotes, 10 carrots, and about 1 cup of ranch dressing.
Using permanent markers (black and gold work best), draw festive patterns on plastic cups.
- Fill bottom of plastic cup with about 1 tbsp. ranch dressing.
- Add veggies of choice.
Transport to school in a baking pan covered in plastic wrap, refrigerated until serving.
If having children in a classroom assemble, place chopped veggies into small disposable bowls on tables. Give child a cup filled with ranch dressing and let them add veggies of choice.
