- 1 large onion, diced
- 4 large cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef ✅
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 cups tomato juice ✅
- 8 ounces tomato sauce ✅

- 1 tablespoon chili powder ✅
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano ✅

How To Make Pasta Sauce
Sauté the onions and ground beef
Heat the olive oil in a large stockpot. Add the onions and cook until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the ground beef and cook through. Drain the grease.
Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer
To the meat mixture add the water, tomato juice, tomato sauce, tomato paste, chili powder, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer for at least 1 hour. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve with your favorite gluten-free pasta.

How To Sauté Onions
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet. Once hot, add the diced onions. You will know the olive oil is hot if it is shimmering. Stir the onions around the skillet until each onion is coated in olive oil. Then, let cook. Wait 5-6 minutes. Stir while scraping off any fond on the bottom of the skillet. Repeat for the next 10-15 minutes. Be careful not to cook the onions on high heat to prevent burning.
How To Brown Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Using a spatula, carefully break up the meat into large chunks. Let the chunks of beef cook for approximately 1 minute. Then, break the chunks into smaller pieces and let cook for approximately 1 minute. Repeat the process of alternating between breaking up the ground beef and cooking for 1 minute until the ground beef is no longer pink. Last but not least, drain the brown ground beef by draining any excess fat.
