How To Make Chicken Cordon Bleu in Air fryer
Place chicken breasts onto one sheet of parchment paper. Carefully slice them in half horizontally so you have 4 chicken breast pieces. Place another sheet of parchment paper on top. Use a kitchen mallet to pound the chicken breasts thin. This helps do several things. Pounding the chicken helps to tenderize the meat but also to ensure even thickness for cooking.
Roll the chicken breasts
Add 1 ham slice and 1 cheese slice to each chicken breast. Roll starting at the narrowest end.
Prep the coatings
In a shallow bowl combine the flour, salt, and pepper. In another bowl whisk together 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water. In the third bowl combine the breadcrumbs, basil, and oregano.
Coat the chicken
Place one rolled chicken breast carefully in the flour mixture, rolling to cover the whole thing. Place into the egg wash and roll to cover all sides. Place into the breadcrumbs and coat, gently pressing the breadcrumbs into the chicken.
Place onto the wire rack of the air fryer. Repeat for all of the chicken. Spray the tops of the breaded chicken with avocado oil or another high-heat cooking spray. This helps to get that golden brown color we look for in fried foods.
Air Fry
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F. Once preheated air fry for 15 minutes. Check to make sure the internal temperature hits 165°F. Serve hot.

Recipe Tips and Tricks
Quality Ingredients: Use high-quality chicken, ham, and cheese for the best flavor. Opt for fresh herbs when possible for enhanced taste.
Secure Rolling: Secure the rolled chicken with toothpicks before coating to prevent unraveling during the cooking process. Place the seam side down when arranging on the wire rack to help maintain the shape.
Even Coating: Shake off excess flour, egg wash, and breadcrumbs at each stage for a more even and crispy coating.
Flavor Variations: Experiment with different cheeses or add a layer of Dijon mustard for extra flavor. Customize the breadcrumb mixture with your favorite herbs and spices.
Crispy Finish: For an extra crispy exterior, consider giving the breaded chicken a light spray of cooking oil halfway through the air frying process.
